McDougall Gauley LLP is proud to announce that Michael W. Milani, Q.C., has been appointed to the Estey Chair in Business Law at the University of Saskatchewan College of Law, for a six-month term beginning July 1, 2022.
The Estey Chair in Business Law was established in 2012 by John and Bill Estey in honour of their father, the late Willard “Bud” Estey, former Justice of Supreme Court of Canada. Chairholders are expected to teach business law courses within the College of Law, conduct high quality research in their field of expertise and share their knowledge and insight by engaging in outreach activities with the wider legal community. The Chair has previously been held by Cally Jordan, Associate Professor, Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne, and Roderick Wood, Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Alberta.
Michael brings to bear his experience in banking law, insolvency law, and commercial practice, including related litigation. He has appeared before all levels of court in Canada including the Supreme Court of Canada. His research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals in Canada and internationally. Michael is a fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada and Chair of the Law Reform Commission of Saskatchewan.
