McDougall Gauley LLP's Michael W. Milani, K.C. is hosting the Estey Symposium on Commercial Law. He is the current Estey Chair in Business Law at the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan.
The Estey Chair in Business Law was established in 2012 by John and Bill Estey in honour of their father, the late Willard “Bud” Estey, former Justice of Supreme Court of Canada. As the Estey Chair in Business Law, Michael conducts high quality research in his field of expertise and shares his knowledge and insight by engaging in outreach activities with the wider legal community.
The Estey Symposium on Commercial Law will take place on November 17, 2022. This one-day event will include presentations by Warren Sproule, K.C. (PPSA Amendments), Emeritus Professor Ron Cuming, K.C. (Reviewable Transactions Act), Keely Cameron (Orphan Wells), Professor Clayton Bangsund (Sale of Goods) and Professor Tamara Buckwold (Conceptual Structure of Commercial Law). The panelists and moderators are distinguished academics, practitioners and judges of the Saskatchewan courts. Michael is a senior commercial, insolvency and banking law lawyer. He is a member of the firm's Executive Committee. He has appeared before all levels of court in Canada including the Supreme Court of Canada. Michael's research has appeared in peer-reviewed journals in Canada and internationally. He is also the Chair of the Law Reform Commission of Saskatchewan and a Fellow of the Insolvency Institute of Canada.
