On Friday, November 5, 2021, the Government of Saskatchewan made the announcement regarding the appointment of Brad Mitchell to the Provincial Court for Saskatchewan.
During his time with McDougall Gauley, Judge Mitchell was a partner in the Saskatoon office’s criminal defence group, and also practiced civil litigation. Judge Mitchell has conducted numerous trials in Saskatchewan and Alberta, and appeared on numerous occasions before the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal. He joined McDougall Gauley’s executive committee in 2019. Judge Mitchell was recognized as a “Best Lawyer in Canada” for criminal defence, in 2021.
Judge Mitchell received his law degree from the University of Saskatchewan in 2007, and was called to the bar of Saskatchewan in 2008. Judge Mitchell has had numerous leadership positions. He served on the Board of Directors of SaskAbilities and Autism Services Saskatoon, as a volunteer coach for Special Olympics Saskatchewan, and was heavily involved in pro bono initiatives in Saskatchewan prior to his appointment.
