McDougall Gauley LLP is proud to announce that James N. Korpan, K.C. has been appointed as a Judge of the Provincial Court of Saskatchewan.
The Honourable Judge Korpan was a partner in McDougall Gauley's Regina office. Judge Korpan joined the firm in 1993 after the completion of his articles. His practice included litigation, dispute resolution, family law, and defence of criminal charges and internal disciplinary proceedings.
Judge Korpan was appointed to the Queen's Counsel in 2016. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in the areas of Criminal Defence and Family Law, and received the special recognition of "Lawyer of the Year" 2022 in Criminal Defence.
Judge Korpan served as Vice-President (2021) and President (2022) of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, as well as Chairperson for the Civil Litigation and Criminal Justice sections of the Canadian Bar Association, Saskatchewan Branch.
Judge Korpan received his Bachelor of Laws from the University of Saskatchewan in 1992 and Bachelor of Arts (Distinction) from the University of Regina in 1989. He was called to the Saskatchewan bar in 1993.
