McDougall Gauley LLP is proud to announce that Matthew Schmeling has been elected Bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan.
The benchers are the governing body of the Law Society (the “Board”) and are responsible for ensuring the effective carriage of the Law Society’s mandate to regulate the practice of law in the public interest. The Board is made up of members of the Law Society from across the Province and members of the wider Saskatchewan public. Benchers are chosen based on elections held in regional electoral divisions.
Matthew is a partner at McDougall Gauley's Regina office. He is a member of the firm's Defence Group practicing primarily in the areas criminal law, regulatory defence and professional discipline. Matthew acts for some of the Province's largest employers in relation to Occupational Health and Safety investigations and proceedings. He acts for individuals and professionals charged criminally or dealing with professional discipline investigations and related proceedings.
Matthew’s three-year term as a bencher begins January 2025.
