McDougall Gauley LLP's Lauren J. Wihak will be moderating a panel at Canadian Institute for the Administration of Justice’s (CIAJ) Annual Administrative Law Roundtable. The Roundtable will take place in Ottawa on June 6, 2024.
The Roundtable will be a tribute discussion in relation to two leading leading figures in administrative law who passed away in 2023: the Honourable Mr. Justice Louis LeBel and Ron Ellis, a leading figure in tribunal design. This panel discussion will kick off the roundtable and discuss each man’s impact on administrative law in Canada. Carole Prest will be discussing Mr. Ellis, and Francois LeBel – a judge of the Court of Quebec and Justice LeBel’s son – will be discussing Justice LeBel. The discussion will be bilingual.
Lauren is a partner at McDougall Gauley. A significant aspect of her practice focuses on appeals, and Lauren frequently appears in the Court of Appeal for Saskatchewan. Lauren is a member of CIAJ's Administrative Law Roundtable Organizing Committee. She is often invited to speak at conferences and seminars on administrative law. Lauren clerked with Justice LeBel at the Supreme Court of Canada in 2009-2010.
