As of June 6, 2017 the Express Entry program has been modified in order to give candidates who have siblings living in Canada additional points. Furthermore you can now get points for having good French language skills.
Summary of the changes:
- You can now earn 15 additional points if you or your spouse/common-law partner (who will come with you to Canada) have a brother or sister who is living in Canada, or is a citizen or permanent resident in Canada.
- You have the ability to earn 30 additional points if you scored NCLC 7 or higher on all four French language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing).
- You will be awarded 15 points if you scored CLB 4 or lower in English (or you have not had an English test).
- You will be awarded 30 additional points if you scored CLB 5 or higher on all four English skills.
The other main change to the Express Entry program is that it is now up to you if you want to create a Job Match account with Job Bank. If you meet the minimum entry requirements you will be placed in the pool and eligible for an invitation to apply. You must keep in mind that each pool draw has its own minimum score requirement based on the pool of candidates at the time. On May 31, 2017, 3877 invitations were issued and the lowest ranked candidate had 413 points.
