Mike Russell practices insolvency, bankruptcy and restructuring law, together with corporate and commercial litigation, with a focus on construction law. Mike represents corporate debtors, lenders and insolvency professionals in proceedings under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and Companies Creditors’ Arrangements Act. Mike has expertise with forbearance agreements, builders’ liens, including in regard to operators’ liens related to oil, gas and minerals, unpaid sellers’ liens and commercial liens regarding grain handling and other issues associated with the supply and transport of goods.
Mike has drafted many pleadings, affidavits, briefs of law and related materials for motions, trials and appeals on a wide range of actions in the Court of Queen’s Bench, the Court of Appeal and the Federal Court of Canada. He also has expertise in matters related to Saskatchewan’s Enforcement of Money Judgments Act. Mike is a member of the Saskatchewan Bankruptcy Practice Committee.
