At McDougall Gauley we hire students who believe in our values and work well in our environment so that they continue with our firm as associates and, eventually, our partners. Apart from meeting academic requirements, our partners look for students who are well suited to our firm's culture. McDougall Gauley seeks individuals who will be a positive influence within the firm and in the communities in which we live and work.
Each year is different; however, we typically offer articling positions in our Saskatoon and Regina office. Postings will be available in May on this site. Our Regina office also offers summer student positions which are posted in late September/early October.
What you need to know
What you need to know in order to determine if you are a good fit for McDougall Gauley, is that we allow our lawyers to figure out their passion and follow their own career path. As a result, we look for self-motivated, ambitious individuals who will grow with the firm. McDougall Gauley offers over 20 practice areas. As an articling student you can try many areas of practice to see which area suits you the most. In fact, we have you work with lawyers in each of the major areas of practice throughout the year.
Top Three Tips!
1. Be Professional! Every detail matters. Dress professionally when attending our reception. Ensure all correspondence, whether by email or phone, is professional (proof read your materials!) Ensure your online presence is professional. Every! Detail! Matters!
2. Make yourself stand out. Get to know our recruitment lawyers by attending our reception and visiting our booth at the career fairs. Share a bit about yourself that shows how you would make a great fit for our firm. Tell us about your non-law related experiences – what makes you interesting? We want to recruit people for the long-term.
3. Tell us why you love Saskatchewan, love the city we are in, and why you have no intention of moving anywhere else. At McDougall Gauley we are committed to Saskatchewan and we want to know you are too.
BONUS TIP: When you send us your resume, put everything into one file – cover letter, resume, transcripts etc. Do not attach several files to your email.
